When I saw a display of calligraphy in a Seattle shop window, I knew immediately that I wanted to make it my life’s endeavor. The next day I purchased materials with a Speedball manual and began practicing. Fifty years later, I am still passionate about letterforms.

Having established a design studio, I executed commissions for logos, advertisements, invitations, commemorations, etc. and I exhibited my work in northwest galleries. I taught calligraphy classes for Peninsula College and on my own.  Experimentation with letter shapes led to my unique style of painting. I paint with wooden tools that I make myself.

For years I juggled creative pursuits with responsibilities of working as an administrative assistant, caring for family, volunteering for community organizations, and serving as a civic leader. Now, I am once again a full-time artist.
